How to Value Your Website

There are many factors involved with valuing your website. Here are some ideas to help you with valuing your website.

  • Monthly Revenue - Take the average of 3-5 month's revenue and multiply it by 8-12. That number will be a good starting price for your listing. This is usually the biggest selling point of a website.
  • Traffic - How much traffic do you have to your website? Where does the traffic come from? If it is all natural traffic (word of mouth, SE, direct links, direct access) this adds value to the website. If it is paid traffic, it does not add value, it might devalue the website as well.
  • Domain Name - How long is the domain? The longer the domain the less valuable. Is it easy to remember?
  • Brand Awareness - Are you running a well established website and brand? The longer the site has been around the better.
  • Custom Work - Do you have someone create something just for you? Did you have someone create a custom script or design? This adds value.
  • Script Licenses - Do you have a script license that you will give to the new buyer? This will add value.
  • User Loyalty - Does your website have a strong and loyal user backing? This will add value to your website.
  • Search Engine Placement - Are you ranked well in Google, Yahoo, or MSN? This will add value to your website.
